Having completed the new science, art & technology block, we undertook phase 2 of this project. During the summer break, the rear section of the existing school was demolished and 20 temporary classrooms were installed in the tennis court area.
A complex planning operation then allowed us to integrate the subsequent demolition and construction works with the day-to-day operational needs of the school, ensuring minimum disruption and inconvenience.
Concrete planks, weighing up to ½ a tonne each, reduce sound transfer within the building and aid its natural cooling by increasing its overall mass. This helps to avoid the costs and environmental impact associated with forced ventilation systems.
