Miller Construction was delighted to join Scotland’s First Minister, Alex Salmond, to celebrate the official launch of the new Alloa Campus at Forth Valley College.
At a ceremony attended by staff, learners, sector colleagues, local and national politicians and industry partners, Mr Salmond unveiled a plaque to commemorate the official opening of the Miller Construction built campus.
Mr Salmond enjoyed a tour of the new campus, seeing the fantastic learning environments for himself. During the tour he had the opportunity to meet student learners who are already benefiting from the new facilities.
Liam Hanlon, Operations Director, Scotland, Miller Construction, said: “We are delighted to join Alex Salmond at the official opening of the new Alloa Campus. Miller Construction is a market leader in providing learning environments and we are pleased that Forth Valley College is delighted with the results.
“We are currently working on the Stirling Campus for the college and are proud of the role we are playing in delivering outstanding learning environments in Forth Valley for the students of today and the future.”
The new 5,000sqm campus includes high tech teaching areas and workshops, a gym and bistro. The campus also boasts quality office and conference space and it is anticipated that these facilities will assist in creating a hub for local community groups and businesses.
Forth Valley College Principal Linda McKay, said: “This is a very special occasion in the life of Forth Valley College. Our new campus is impressive, it has a strong sense of community - which is something we see as vital to our success - and we’re excited about the possibilities ahead.
“Our modern, state-of-the art facility will enable us to create new and innovative education and training opportunities and continue to ensure a high quality learner experience. We also hope this beautiful building will provide learners with the inspiration to strive for excellence and achieve their aspirations.”
Miller Construction is currently on site with the Stirling Campus which will be completed in February of 2012.
