A Miller Construction employee has successfully completed a 462 mile charity bike ride from London to Edinburgh, in just five days.
Jeremy Barnett, Operations Manager, was one of 53 riders who took part in the challenge, organised by the Quintessentially Foundation, supporting the Place2be charity. The group of riders has raised an incredible £200,000 to date.
The group left Alexandra Palace, London, on the first day, heading through Cambridgeshire to Peterborough. Crossing the Humber Bridge on the third day, into North Yorkshire, the riders finished their day in Middlesbrough, after cycling 100 miles. Day four involved another 100 miles of cycling, finishing in Alnwick. The fifth and final day, the shortest of them all at 85 miles, saw the team climb a 450 meter hill, before a long descent into Edinburgh via the coast.
Jeremy said: “The team and I are delighted to have completed the charity bike in support of the Place2be charity. It was a massive achievement for us all and while it was a very tough challenge, it was extremely rewarding. I completed the ride understandably very tired, with very sore knees, but delighted to have completed the challenge without walking up a single hill!
“I am overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who supported me and donated to this very worthwhile cause and I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to everyone.”
