The new Malinslee Primary School, built on previously disused allotments and public open space, amalgamates 3 former schools, all of which remained operational adjacent to the site during construction. The old buildings were then demolished and the areas levelled to form sports fields and to allow residential re-development.

Forming the first phase of a total re-development of the Malinslee local centre, the scheme also incorporates two nursery schools, a children’s centre and a community centre.

The 18 classroom primary school for Telford & Wrekin Council provides vibrant and safe education facilities using sustainable materials and environmentally conscious building technologies.

Miller Construction played an active role in the school throughout the construction process - Year 4 pupils were offered a practical construction module and the site agent acted as an ongoing mentor to a group with behavioural difficulties. Construction kits were provided for pupils’ use and assistance was given in transporting an outing group to a local garden centre. Around the site, areas were constructed for pupils to observe work progress.

"The Miller team have been very supportive of our school and have been very happy to help out with problems we have encountered in our current buildings and grounds.  They have been keen to work closely with us and have accommodated regular visits from myself and other members of staff.  As a busy Headteacher I have been very grateful that I have been kept well informed by Miller.

“They have involved us in decision making whilst minimising demands on our time whenever possible.  The Miller team have been very happy to accommodate us in whatever way they could and we very much feel that we have been partners in the development of our new school.

"Jim and the team have been very willing to get involved in any aspect of school life... our Reception class even named their bear after him!
Whilst we are excited about moving in, we will all miss Jim and his team when they leave."

Mandie Haywood, Headteacher
