In 2011 we commenced works on site at this newly enlarged retail facility for NEXT at The Centre, Milton Keynes. The project involves the construction of a new two storey building, including a continuation of the service road at first floor level.
As the existing building has a Grade II listed status, particular consideration had to be given to the design of the cladding and glazing, required to match the existing 1970's design, while providing the required insulation expected for 21st Century buildings.
The building consists of a steel frame on concrete pad foundations, curtain wall with DG mirrored glass units and external render to match the existing listed building's features.
Works are taking place, both within and close to, the existing shopping centre, resulting in carefully timed works to ensure the day-to-day operation of the centre is not affected.
