This contract involved the design and construction of a new Civil Justice Centre in Bristol, replacing the existing civil courts which were opposite the Crown Court building in Small Street.

The six storey centre comprises nine courts, split into four large courts, two standard civil courts, one fraud court, one civil jury court, six civil hearing rooms and one family proceedings court, all serving Bristol and the surrounding area.

The building works were finished with cladding in three different types of stonework and a piazza area was also built as well as basement parking facilities.

With regards to the nature of the end use of the building, it was essential that, in addition to the usual first class standard of internal finishes and insulation that we deliver, the acoustics of the building were of the highest standard.

Due to the site being in the city centre, access was restricted but we responded to this challenge by coming up with innovative solutions which ensured the build was carried out with minimum disruption to the community and the site’s neighbours.

The building achieved a BREEAM rating of Excellent, which reinforces our commitment to producing environmentally friendly buildings.
